Santa’s voyage if he used global population ranking to plan his route

In the spirit of the holidays, the GeoTime Team decided to look at what Santa’s yearly voyage would look like if he planned his route based population. This way, he would offload as much weight as possible early in his voyage, thus being more fuel efficient overall. Take a look at the visualization of Santa's December 25th voyage on the GeoTime(s) Blog:

  1. Did the creators of the map fail to use the shortest path across a spherical earth, especially toward the end of Santa's trek? It appears that crossing the International Date line may be a no-no.

    • You are right.. it looks like they're using Santa to showcase their product, however, have they forgot the Earth is a sphere? It sure seems so.
